As a part of the project the team at German Jordanian University has conducted a training course focused on green hydrogen technology and PtX. These courses are designed for students at Jordanian universities
The training focused on the following objectives:
• Introduction to green hydrogen and PtX technologies, explaining their importance in the energy transition.
• Understanding the role of hydrogen and its derivatives in the energy transition and exploring their applications.
• Overview of the existing hydrogen market and applications worldwide, with a focus on the status in the MENA region. • Importance of hydrogen as an energy carrier, including its production principles, technologies, and colour classification based on raw materials and methods.
• Exploring the advantages and disadvantages of different hydrogen production technologies, considering thermodynamics and kinetics of production reactions.
• Explanation of electrolysis concept and its types, along with identification of green hydrogen design steps and familiarity with essential system components and design parameters.
• Recognition of important hydrogen derivatives, understanding their significance within the hydrogen supply chain, and ability to perform relevant chemical and mathematical calculations.
• Specification of green hydrogen transportation methods, identification of main derivatives used for transportation, understanding hydrogen cluster concept, key factors influencing transportation costs, and possible transportation infrastructure between the MENA region and Europe.
• Understanding various hydrogen applications, including power generation, fuel cells, transportation, industry, energy storage, grid integration, and integration with renewable energy sources.
• Identification of hydrogen properties, associated hazards, risk aspects in different supply chain stages, and general understanding of available codes and standards for hydrogen supply chain safety.
• Discussion on state-of-the-art technologies for green hydrogen storage, exploring challenges, opportunities, and emerging innovative storage options, as well as enabling students to perform relevant calculations in hydrogen storage stage.
